How to measure your Exion Halters?

Halters

We mainly offer leather halters, all built on the same standard design, with subtle differences in style to suit different customer preferences. A great advantage is that nearly all our halter models are available in both brass & brass nickel hardware.

How to measure your horse's halters?

To choose the right size, you'll need 4 key measurements on your horse,

  1. Crownpiece (poll strap)
  2. Throatlatch
  3. Cheekpiece
  4. Noseband (around)

Start with the crownpiece, as it sets the foundation for the rest of the fit. Place the measuring tape at the top of the horse’s cheekbone, just below the base of the ear, and slightly behind the eye (this is where the ring would sit if a halter were on). Bring the tape up the side of the face, over the poll, and down the other side, stopping at the same point on the opposite cheekbone

Once you have this measurement, compare it with the size chart to find your horse’s base size and, use this same reference point (top of the horse's cheekbone) to measure the other parts — throatlatch, cheekpiece, and noseband — in the recommended order, to confirm the correct overall fit.

NOTE: The crownpiece ring has a 1.5" internal diameter, which you can account for when measuring each part for greater accuracy.
