A horse-bit curb chain, or leather curb strap, is a piece of horse tack required for proper use on any type of curb bit or shanked bits. They are a vital piece of bit accessories and the main use of a leather strap curb chain is to enhance and control the lever action of a curb bit.

Unlike curb chains with hooks, our curb chain with leather sides provides a gentler, more comfortable fit for your horse. The soft, high-quality leather reduces the risk of chafing and irritation, ensuring your horse remains comfortable even during extended use.

Additionally, a horse curb chain helps to keep the bit steady and in place within the mouth. The tightness of the curb chain has a great effect on the action of the bit.

If the bit is used without a curb chain for the horse bridle, it loses its leverage action. If used with a loose curb chain, it allows the shanks to rotate more before the equestrian curb chain is tight enough to act as a fulcrum and exert pressure.
