Martingales

There are two primary types of martingales:

Types of martingales for horses

How to measure your martingale?

There are only two important measurements you need to take while choosing a martingale for your horse.

1. Girth Strap: Begin from the end (A1) of the girth strap that attaches to the noseband (reins in case of a running martingale) to the other usable end (A2) when it is buckled at the min/max hole. (Note: The measurements mentioned are of the length in use when buckled at min/max hole and not to the entire length to the buckle)
2. Neck Strap: Begin from the end (B1) of the neck strap with buckle to the other end (B2) when it is buckled at the min/max hole.

Customers praised this hunter martingale for "amazing quality" and "excellent value for price." Reviews highlight beautiful leather, strong stitching, and durability. However, sizing runs inconsistently—some found it too large while others said it "runs a tad bit small." One customer received a torn item but noted "customer service was excellent." One shopper was disappointed the color didn't match their bridle.

    Good quality for price

I got it about mid summer and I’ve used it a ton since then and it’s still in perfect condition! It did run a little big for my two 16.3/17hh horses in the average horse size but I punched a few holes and it fit great. I’ve also bought it for a friend and she loves it for her horses (16.3 & 15.3) and it fits perfectly in size cob! By far the best one I’ve seen for a good price and I can tell it will last. (Video is before I added notches)

    Great Quality

Great quality. The only downside to it was that I ordered a cob and it was still almost too big. I had to punch in an extra hole. Besides that, I love it! It’s hard to see in the picture but it’s there and looking amazing in real life

    Fantastic purchase!

I purchased a beautiful bridle and martingale for my daughter a few weeks ago. Several people have commented on the beauty and quality of these items. We are very pleased with the quality of the purchase as well as the price. Shipping took about a week and a half to the US.

A cob was a tinnyyyy bit too big for my large pony, Ill probably just have to punch in another hole to make it fit better. Other than that its great! Came just as expected, excited to use it in the show ring.

    Good product

I bought all of my show tack from here and it’s lovely. It works great and is amazing quality. The shipping was quite delayed and annoying to deal with, but that’s not Bridles and Reins fault. Totally worth the wait though!
